Materials that can absorb water

Let us find out materials that can absorb water by a small experiment.

First, prepare a plastic spoon and a bottle of red syrup.

Pour some red syrup in to the spoon .

Now, put the material you wish to test on the syrup in spoon.

Observation:  

Did the material wet ?
Did the material change in red colour ?
